Knock Knock Who’s There?

I love finding new and interesting doorways and hallways, they always make me want to see what’s on the other side, like these treasures I found recently in Spain and Gibraltar.   The Spanish people are very proud of their ornate doors, and their craftmanship is also very evident in the tiling and carvings seen everywhere.  You only have to visit someplace like Barcelona  to marvel at the works of the very talented architects of the past.     Have a look at this post by restlessjo for some fabulous examples of Gaudi work.

Joan, thank you so much for including me in your lovely post! I love that chunky door in Gibraltar. Haven’t been there yet but it’s not too far from the Algarve so it’ll happen one day 🙂
I’m just home from my first Christmas meal out with my walking friends. Too full to do much other than read.

I was so surprised to see this post. Obviously, great retired minds think alike. I, too am retired and love photography and even though I don’t get the chance to travel a lot, I find tremendous beauty everywhere. St. Louis has some great architecture, specifically doors, that I profiled in a poster, Doors of Saint Louis:

I agree that there’s something compelling about doorways–the invitation to wonder about the other side! You’ve featured some beautiful examples.

I would love to hear what you think!
