Garretstown in Winter

Garretstown beach, beyond Kinsale, is a very long sandy beach, perfect for a brisk walk at any time of the year, and is a favourite place for surfing.  There is a surf school there, and always kite surfers in the water, or on the beach, preparing to get on the water.   Today was quite windy, perfect for the kite surfers, and there were a few of them making the most of the weather, as well as plenty people walking the kilometre long beach.     Here are some photos from today.

And the sun came out for a while

Time for a brisk walk

Getting dark and dreary again

Very incongruous somehow, Irish beaches. Certainly you’d only sunbathe about three times a year. They’re great for walking though. Garretstown used to have a nice hotel/restaurant but I think that’s gone now. Hopefully the Speckled Door up the road is still there.

Like the last one in particular. We were down there with the Hound yesterday but I did not take the camera! 🍀

I would love to hear what you think!
