This Old House….

While we were driving towards the very scenic Glen of Aherlow, in County Tipperary, on a bend of the road was this very old run-down cottage and outbuildings, and it was a case of ‘stop the car, quick’ so that a photo opportunity was not missed!   It looks like the occupants have long since departed, and the cottage was in quite a sad state, though it must have been a very cosy home in earlier times.

If walls could talk. How lovely it would be to have the money to bring the house back to life.

Oh, it really is lovely, and so sad and lonely.

Like your other commenters say, what a story to be told. It would be nice to know the date of original construction – any clues I wonder?

Love old places like that. By the style, (my grans house in Mallow, Cork looks similar) maybe 150 years old? or older what are your thoughts, Joan?
Sad that no one had the chance to keep it up and running, as it is so hard once it’s in this condition.
    Who knows what happened there!!!!!

Reblogged this on My Philosophy, My Thoughts. and commented:
shame to see all these cottages in ruins all over Ireland, they have stood the test of time, why not renovate them? in the UK and europe they go for a small fortune.

Love this. I wonder what the story is behind this house and who lived here.
