The Ogham Stone : Weekly Photo Challenge – Letters

Ogham is an early medieval alphabet, said to have originated many many years ago,   in the 4th century.   It is the oldest form of writing in Ireland, and used mainly to write the medieval Irish language.   It consists of a series of strokes along a straight line, and was written on stone.   There are still about 400 Ogham stones to be found in Ireland, and we came across this one in the Glen of Aherlow, in County Tipperary, which the inscription says had been found over 100 years ago, close to where it is now displayed, at Aherlow House Hotel.

Fascinating. Has anyone been able to translate the language?
