Bantry Bay on a grey day

Bantry Bay on a grey day

Ireland can be a place where there are a lot of ‘grey’ days, and showers, and clouds, but in spite of that, you can still see the natural beauty all along the coast.  The photo above was taken on a hike near Glengarriff, as we looked out over Bantry Bay, and the far off mountains, wondering would we make it back down the mountain before getting wet.

Kerry Mountains

Kerry Mountains

Hikers and hill walkers love the challenge of steep mountains like these, and in County Kerry there are plenty mountain ranges to satisfy all different levels of climbers.

Lovely peaceful scenes, Joan. Sunshine is so overrated, isn’t it. 😀

I’m sure it must look beautiful in the sunlight, but even in the rain it has a kind of rugged charm, I think.

Ireland is at the top of my travel list! I live in Washington state, so the grey doesn’t phase me. 🙂

When is the best season to visit, Joan? An Irish friend of mine some years ago gave me the impression that it rains heavily almost all the time, but with occasional breaks for drizzle. I’m hoping he was exaggerating a little for comic effect, or wasn’t he?

Ha ha, if you visited last month you would have believed him, but this month is much better with no rain so far! We have no extremes of temperature though, anytime from April to October are good months, especially with longer days so you can pack a lot of sightseeing In!

There has to be a coffee table book hidden in there Joan or did I miss something along the way?

Always reassuring to see Cork and Kerry in misty grey- those bright, sunny days in the brochures aren’t so frequent 🙂
