Tuesdays of Texture : Week 19 of 2016

Budapest

Ornate buildings in Budapest

This week I am combining two challenges – Narami’s Tuesdays of Texture and Norm’s Thursday Doors, as I have some wonderful doors and buildings from Budapest.   Not only are the doors full of interesting textures and decorations, but so are the statues and carvings around the doors.

Here are a few more:

Thursday Doors : Pillars of Society!

2015-02-21 10.41.49This week I have another door from Malta for Norm’s Thursday Doors,  the carving, the crest over the door, and the balcony and pillars are all very impressive and I am sure it is a very important building.   The photo was taken in Mdina on a holiday there last year.

Interesting carving

The beautiful carving on this door must have taken a long time, and the ironwork over the door is another nice feature.   This photo was taken in the old city of Mdina, in Malta.

Weekly Photo Challenge : Angular

My ‘angular’ photos are of two churches in Italy,  you will often see a very elaborate tiled roof on a church, with even the windows, or air vents, also incorporated into the tiled design.   The doorway of the church in Riva del Garda is also very symmetrical and angled.

On a trip to a winery, there were a lot of angles and interesting shapes, from the sign outside, to the wine barrels and old dusty bottles, lying at right angles to the frames they were maturing in.
