Optimistic : Weekly Photo Challenge

While on a stroll along the old railway line by Blackrock Castle in Cork, we came across this mural on the wall of the old abandoned ticket office.   Someone was being very optimistic that the trains would be along again ‘any minute now’ and the artist did a great job of making everything very life like.

Weekly Photo Challenge : Off Season

Looks like its off season for the War!  This is part of the military display at Fort Camden, (Camden Fort Meagher) in Co Cork, a restored Coastal Artillery Fort, which guards the entrance to the Port of Cork, and played a very important role in the defence of Ireland and the west coast of England  for over 400 years.  The fort is being restored on an ongoing basis, mainly by volunteers, and is open to the public during the summer months

My photos today are mostly taken in Blarney Castle when my daughter was visiting last August, as you can see there was a little ‘yarn bombing‘ going on in the young trees.   If you haven’t heard of yarn bombing, or guerilla knitting (and we overheard a few confused American visitors saying ‘but whats the point?’)   this is what Wiki says about it

Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, yarnstorming, guerrilla knitting, urban knitting or graffiti knitting is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk.
