It IS Easy Being Green :WPC

Lismore Castle, Co Waterford

Lismore Castle

Springtime is THE best time of the year, no matter whether you are in the northern or southern hemisphere.  After the dullness of winter, it’s so nice to see the greenery emerging, and the flowers and trees showing their buds.

In our visit to Lismore Castle and Gardens last weekend, it was wonderful to see all the greenery and also the beautiful magnolias in full bloom, some even shedding their blossoms already on the green lawns.  Check out some of my favourites in the gallery below:

Well tended lawn in Dublin

Well tended lawn in Dublin

The bright green lawn above looks inviting, along with the little covered bench, where you can sit and dream.   This photo was taken at the weekend at the Casino at Marino in Dublin, an Irish Heritage site (which I will write about in a future post).   In summertime there is a lot of greenery all around, especially with the ‘soft’ (meaning dampish) Irish weather, and in my next photo, the ferns are in full bloom

The sheep are also enjoying the lush sweet green grass around the countryside.

A Photo A Week Challenge : Green

Ireland is known for its greenery, probably due to the fact that it often rains here – softly, gently, and sometimes heavy, pouring cats and dogs!.  A well known and often used Irish expression is ‘It’s a soft day, Thank God’  There is an old ballad about Ireland, written by Johnny Cash, called ‘Forty Shades of Green‘ and these photos taken in Killarney National Park give some idea of the many shades and colours of green in nature.

Today, as you all probably know, is St Patrick’s Day, our national holiday. Now I won’t post any green shamrocks or dancing   leprechauns, but this video by our Tourist board is well worth checking out.   Enjoy and  Happy St. Patrick’s Day,whatever nationality you are.
