Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge : Metal and Wood

Window on the world

Window on the world

We came across this quaint traditonal old farmhouse near Kenmare, Co Kerry, that has been renovated to the style of the 50s,  and we enjoyed a cuppa and pastry in this room.   On the window along with the teapot and candlestick is what looks like an old meat safe, which would have been used for storage of perishables, and placed in the coldest part of the house.   I think the picture fits perfectly with Cee’s challenge for this week.

Knitting in miniature

I was in a shop near Kenmare, in County Kerry this week, and saw this beautiful hand crafted piece of knitting in a frame, complete with little needles and tiny balls of wool – the frame is only about ten or twelve inches high, so this little piece must have been made by teeny tiny hands, maybe even by the fairies!   Wouldn’t it be the perfect present for a keen knitter?

Look up to where we've been

Look up to where we’ve been

Let’s go for a hike in the Kerry mountains above Kenmare, it’s quite a climb, and watch your step coming down through the rocks and tall grass

Weekly Photo Challenge : Unusual

In this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge, we are asked to show photos with an unusual point of view. Here are a few photos taken on the Zambezi River, in Zimbabwe, at sunset.

Zambezi Sunset

Zambezi Sunset

Usually the sun in Africa goes down very quickly, one minute it’s there, and the next it has disappeared over the horizon, leaving a lovely  glow on the mountains.

And nearer to home, the town of Kenmare is famous for all the brightly coloured and quaint thatched buildings.

This last picture was taken near my home a few months ago, with the sheep and young lambs enjoying the sunshine.
