Are we there yet….are we….
the long climb up Cardiac Hill in Killarney, but we were rewarded with great views….eventually!

sitting by the lagoon
And we quickly hopped over to the Blue Lagoon between Malta and Gozo for a rest under the umbrellas!

This week I have another door from Malta for Norm’s Thursday Doors, the carving, the crest over the door, and the balcony and pillars are all very impressive and I am sure it is a very important building. The photo was taken in Mdina on a holiday there last year.

This week, my doors are from Valletta in Malta, a row of old traditional houses, with the type of balcony that is seen a lot in this area, giving extra space to the upstairs room. Even though the houses are quite old, they look freshly painted and the owners still take pride in their houses.

in Travel Tags: aunts and uncles, children, dressing up, favourite food, fireworks, fun in the sun, Malta, party, spaghetti, through the eyes of a child, Today was a good day, wedding, wedding party, weekly photo challenge
Today was a good day, cos I am nearly THREE years old
I woke up very early, and we were going to a very special party, a wedding party
with my Mom & Dad, my Nana, my sisters, aunts and uncles, and lots of other people
and we all got dressed up real nice, my sisters had matching dresses
and I had to wear a smart shirt and tie….but not for too long
as I never wore a tie before.
And my Aunty Erin wore a long white dress, and we were all waiting for her at the church,
and she was the last to get there
and I was worried that we might miss the party, cos after the church everyone
was kissing and hugging
and there were lots of photos and grown up drinks
and stuff like that
but we ran around and played with my uncles, and climbed and jumped
and then we went in a fast boat to the restaurant,
and at last
I got something to drink and my favourite food, besgetti and lots of tomato sauce
and I didn’t make too much of a mess
And then there were fireworks, and lots of smoke and noise
And tomorrow we are going swimming,
And soon it will be my birthday!

Summer and sunshine are two happenings that make us feel mellow, and lazy, and happy inside, like the old man above going for a stroll on the soft sand when the tide is out.
and on a stripy deckchair, under an umbrella, besides the turquoise water, is mellow and relaxing.

We were in Malta recently for my daughter’s wedding, and on one of the evenings before the wedding, a few of us went for an early dinner at a local restaurant in St. Julians called Sardinella. As it was just after 6 p.m., my friend and I decided it was time to have a little drink before dinner, so when the waitress came over, we decided to have our usual ‘tipple of choice’. ‘Can we have 2 G and T’s please’, I said and off she went.
We could only laugh when she came back….with two beautiful cups and a matching glass teapot, …..filled with TEA!! Not quite what we had in mind.
Something got lost in translation, I think, so after that we made sure to ask for ‘Gin and Tonic’ and so we enjoyed the rest of our nights out.
Have you ever had a similar experience?

Red boats stand out, especially against the grey stonework and the blue, blue sea, in Valletta Harbour, Malta.
And these red poppies are just wonderful, and remind me of summer heat.

This week’s challenge is a good one for me, as my daughter got married in Malta two week’s ago, in beautiful Valletta, and her colour scheme for the wedding was turquoise! It was a pleasant surprise to see this challenge today!
The flower girls looked so beautiful and pretty with their turquoise dresses and ribbons in their hair, with a turquoise sky overhead.
And next day, we took a boat to visit the turquoise waters of the Blue Lagoon, on Comino Island, close to the island of Gozo. Truly a trip to remember.
