Jacaranda trees in full bloom
I have just come back to autumn in Ireland, after spending a month in the sunshine of Southern Africa. It’s coming into summer there, and I miss the warmth of the sun and the beautiful flowering trees, especially the lilac jacarandas which are in full flower right now and looking amazing. Even when the blossoms start to fall and the new leaves start, the pavements under the flowers are covered in purple and lilac petals, and it is like walking on purple snow! What a beautiful sight these trees are in the sunshine.

Brickeen Bridge, Killarney
On Easter Sunday we went walking in Killarney National Park, where the 3 Lakes of Killarney are to be found, and the place is surrounded by mountains, with the most beautiful scenery all around. The bridge above is where one of the lakes flows in to the other, and everywhere you look there are the most beautiful textures and colours, with the trees, grasses, water and mountains all blending in together.

We went hiking in the Glen of Aherlow at the weekend, and when we stopped for lunch after about two hours’ walking, I saw this old abandoned bench, and managed to get a side shot through the long grass and rushes. This bench was in a fantastic spot, looking across at the very majestic Galtee mountains – who wouldn’t want to stop and sit here for a while.
