Tuesdays of Texture : Week 20

The craftmanship in this walkway is a very effective design, made with the smooth light and dark stones.   Lots of texture under your bare feet when you walk in the sun in sunny Marbella in Spain, and there’s even a leaf or two in the photo!   This was in a beautiful plaza, and look at the amazing tiled bench, just made for sitting on to watch the world go by!

Tiled craftwork

And on to another Spanish village, this time Mijas, a traditional white village on the Costa del Sol, where we spotted this ceramic map of the world – such a clever idea!

Weekly Photo Challenge: From Lines to Patterns

The gravel driveway in my garden makes an interesting pattern against the grass that needs to be cut, and the last of the summer flowers.

I love the patterns in this plate, and also the etching on the crystal vase

Everyday things make a good subject, when you look more closely, like this tablecloth

or my floor tiles

and my new hobby, I have started to knit, small simple things now, though I may progress to more complicated things once the long nights kick in, I might be able to combine knit one, purl one, with reading blogs!

Weekly Photo Challenge : Pattern

Pattern can be found in many aspects of my life – it seems I am more of a pattern than a plain person.

Here are some of my wall hangings/floor coverings/table cloths, that I found in Africa:Image

The above is a piece of material I found one Christmas time many years ago, and it has been used on our table for Christmas dinner every year for a long time – who could not feel festive when looking at it!.Image

My wall hangings are more examples of the pattern that can be found in African art, guaranteed to brighten any home.
