More Winter Storms on the Way!

This afternoon we took a drive to Weavers Point, Crosshaven, to look at the waves coming in to Cork Harbour from the Atlantic.  We were right across the bay from Roches Point Lighthouse,  at the mouth of Cork Harbour, which is right in the path of the wind.

The South of Ireland got quite a battering in the past few days with wind and high tides, and more forecast for tonight.    There were plenty white horses on the waves, though the wind was not so strong  this afternoon.  Some of the photos look pleasant, because the sun was shining, but the wind was howling, and I am so glad to be on firm ground, and not on a ship being tossed about in the waves.

Daily Prompt : Happy Happy Joy Joy

Today’s Daily Prompt asks photographers to show Happy.   I can’t think of anything that represents this better than the following photo of my grandchildren, taken last year when we visited Imaginosity in Dublin.   This is a Children’s Museum, and is a creative and interactive space for children under 9 and their families.   If you have never been there, do visit with your little ones if you are in Dublin, it’s great fun.

The girls had a go in the Hurricane Simulator, and all we could hear from the outside, was their screams of delight and happiness.  The wind in there went upto about 78 mph- a bit like parts of Ireland at the moment, though thankfully this only lasted for a  minute or so.

Irish Beaches on a Windy Saturday: A Word a Week Challenge : Wind

These photos were taken a few months ago on Clonea Strand near Dungarvan in Co Waterford.   As you see the beach was fairly deserted, may have had something to do with the fact that the wind was blowing straight in from the sea, and it looked like it was about to rain.

I like being by the sea, but prefer it on a calm day, when the sun is shining!
