Weekly Photo Challenge : Orange

Looking through my photos, it seems I have a lot of orange, from sunsets to flowers to buildings, and I have so many more wonderful photos with that little bit of orange that catches the eye, and brightens up the scene.

In A Vase on Monday : Sweet Smelling Stocks

My flowers this week, again from my garden, are the lovely colourful and sweet smelling socks stocks.  I was away for a few days and when I got back my garden was looking great with everything in full bloom, it seems my garden thrives on neglect!

I have displayed my flowers in an unusual jug, decorated with birds and elephants, and with elephants climbing up the handle of the jug. I got this jug many years ago from a dear friend.   Her house was full of knick knacks and beautiful bits and pieces, as her  late husband had been a merchant seaman who travelled all over the world, and always brought back some exotic gift from his travels.

New Life Among the Old Ruins

On a visit to Turkey, we went on a tour of Ancient Ephesus, where there are incredible Greek and Roman ruins.   Ephesus was founded over 3000 years ago, and it was a major trading capital of the Roman Empire.  Hidden among the ruins, in the dry and dusty heat, despite all the thousands and thousands that walk this way each week, this little plant brought a welcome touch of colour to the old stones.

Fuschias

Fuschias

Pink is a colour that always cheers people up, and is loved by all girls, big and little.   These pink fuschias remind me of a summer’s day, and I look forward to seeing the fuschias in bloom in the next few months.

And I will be putting on these trainers soon, to brighten up my evening walks.
