Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge : Public Transportation

Amsterdam Cruises

Cruising the canals of Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a city with a lot of canals, a bit like Venice.  In fact there are over 100 kilometers of canals in Amsterdam.   If you want a relaxing trip around the city to visit the major sights, take the weight off your feet, sit back and admire the canalside houses and gardens from the comfort of a pretty cruising boat.

Leading Lines : CCY Week 5

Gondolas at the ready

Gondolas at the ready

This week Cee’s Compose Yourself Challenge is to show leading lines.   These photos were mainly taken in  Italy last year, and the ones taken in Venice naturally  involve water and canals.   I hope you like my choices.

Outdoors

I often post photos of being outdoors in the mountains when hillwalking, but here are a few different photos of the great outdoors, discovering new places and ancient monuments.

The ancient city of Ephesus

Sometimes it is hard to avoid crowds in places of great beauty and historical interest.

But sometimes the place is so beautiful that you ignore the crowds (and the scaffolding!), and the queues to get inside.

But I think I still prefer to be in the outdoors with nature.

Weekly Photo Challenge : Converge

The narrow streets and high buildings found in many towns in Italy, are ideal for this week’s Photo Challenge, as the buildings seem to converge as  you look off into the distance.

Venice and It’s Charms

Who could resist reading about this wonderful city, and all it’s different views of water, canals, bridges, buildings, gondolas, and smiling gondoliers, and even a handsome film star or two from time to time!

Travel Theme : Merchandise

A trip to Venice wouldn’t be complete without some retail therapy…and retail therapy Venetian style always involves Venetian masks of  all shapes and sizes.   Come have a look!

Terrific Tuesday Trials : Entrances

The theme for last Tuesday’s challenge (phew..just made it) is Entrances, and for this I am going back to that most photographed and photogenic place- Venice – for a few more snapshots.   The first shows a bridge over the canal, an entrance of sorts from one side to the other, as one wouldn’t want to swim across and dodge the gondola traffic, and there are many entrances on show on the side of the bridge also.    The other two photos are of the wonderful architecture around Venice and Lake Garda.

A Photo A Week Challenge : Off Centre

The challenge this week from Nancy at Nancy Merrill Photography is to show some photos that are off centre, here are a few of mine, which were taken in Venice, Italy and Ephesus in Turkey.    Both places are so breath-taking and interesting, and have many photo opportunities everywhere one looks.
