This photo was taken at evening time in Maynooth, Co Kildare. It is part of Maynooth Castle, a ruin of a 12th century castle, and the walls still look as solid as the day they were built. This was the local place of employment for most of Maynooth in past centuries, as the castle was known as one of the richest and largest estates in the locality.

My photos for this challenge were taken at Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe, when we spent Christmas there a year ago. The distant hills, the water of the lake, and the cloudy sky, all make it a sunset to remember, and it is the time of the evening when you grab a beer, or a gin and tonic, and sit outside and watch the ever changing landscape.
Usually the sun sets very quickly in Africa. One minute the sun is there, and you can almost see it sinking down below the horizon, but the reflections that follow are always memorable.

Sunset at Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe
Just before the sun sets, and darkness falls,
The African skies have so many colours

One, two, three, Jump
Fleeting moments that we capture on camera bring back good memories of something that would otherwise be only a memory. This photo was taken on a hilltop in the Matopos, near Bulawayo, Zimbabwe a few years ago where we went to watch the sunset while having a few ‘sundowners’. Some of us can jump higher than others!

A perfect sight
Clouds at sunset or sunrise turn an ordinary glow into something far more interesting, don’t you agree?
Garrettstown beach, Co. Cork
And on a warm summer’s day, a few white fluffy clouds are always welcome!
