Along the trail on the Glenalochy walk
The photo above was taken on a hike near Dunmanway in West Cork a few weeks ago, visibility was a bit hazy, but the scenery was still beautiful.
George the Sky, Dunmanway
Along the way we came across this sign showing the way to the top of the mountain where an old man called George lived for many years, his house was so remote and high in the hills that he became known as ‘George the Sky’ and it’s nice to see that he is remembered.
In spite of the hustle and bustle, there are quiet corners in London, such as this old ruin of a church near Monument Tube Station, it’s St Dunstan in the East, with benches and a garden to sit and rest after a busy morning in the city.

A modern Lady Godiva!
Not all graffiti is ugly, some of it can have humour, be colourful, different and thought provoking, like this painting on the side of a pedestrian bridge in Frankfurt. There are some talented artists out there that start painting in public places!

Stillness and Movement
The reflection on the still water is a good contrast with the water cascading down towards an old water wheel, which moves the sparkling stream further on its way.

The Victoria & Albert Museum in London is full of interesting reproductions copies of world famous sculptures and paintings, all gleaming in the light showing them off to their best advantage. The museum is a great place to visit if you are ever in London.

Bantry Bay on a grey day
Ireland can be a place where there are a lot of ‘grey’ days, and showers, and clouds, but in spite of that, you can still see the natural beauty all along the coast. The photo above was taken on a hike near Glengarriff, as we looked out over Bantry Bay, and the far off mountains, wondering would we make it back down the mountain before getting wet.
Kerry Mountains
Hikers and hill walkers love the challenge of steep mountains like these, and in County Kerry there are plenty mountain ranges to satisfy all different levels of climbers.

Dry mountain grasses
Grass is usually a shade of green, but sometimes in summer/autumn the colour can change as the grass dies and waits for the new growth in spring.
Clumps of grass
Here is a nice contrast to the two photos above, a well cared for edging showing green grass and daffodils
Crosshaven Walkway
And of course golf courses often have the best grass, to help that little white ball run a long way!
While the grass on the roadside looks different again…
Roadside grass
The African bush looks a little different, but still the grass grows there.

Blue Lagoon, Malta
I am sitting looking out at a dull sky…and cheering myself up by looking at pictures of our recent holiday, and blue skies, and warm water. This picture of the Blue Lagoon, between Malta and Gozo, has shallow, clear water, and you can walk from one side of the lagoon to the other (tides permitting) and explore the interesting caves on the far side.
Freighter in Valletta Grand Harbour
There goes a freighter heading for the shore line in Valletta, passing by Fort St. Elmo which laps the waters of the shore.
Going to the beach
And look at the blue water that is just so inviting.

Little boat on the Lake
This boat on the Upper Lake, Killarney, looks so tiny…or maybe it’s because the lake is so big! And the tiny ducks were out for their first swim with Mama on a summer’s day, swimming as fast as they can to keep up.
Wait for us Mama!

Looks like its off season for the War! This is part of the military display at Fort Camden, (Camden Fort Meagher) in Co Cork, a restored Coastal Artillery Fort, which guards the entrance to the Port of Cork, and played a very important role in the defence of Ireland and the west coast of England for over 400 years. The fort is being restored on an ongoing basis, mainly by volunteers, and is open to the public during the summer months

My photos today are mostly taken in Blarney Castle when my daughter was visiting last August, as you can see there was a little ‘yarn bombing‘ going on in the young trees. If you haven’t heard of yarn bombing, or guerilla knitting (and we overheard a few confused American visitors saying ‘but whats the point?’) this is what Wiki says about it
Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, yarnstorming, guerrilla knitting, urban knitting or graffiti knitting is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk.
