This week again I have a little something from our trip to Mainz in Germany – the sculptors were very busy with this one that we came across in one of the main squares, while we kept warm with some Gluhwien This sculpture is called the carnival sculpture, or The Tower of Fools
Another interesting sculpture we came across is this modern art piece in the Town Square, which my grandchildren enjoyed playing around.

Joan, German pronunciation and spelling are much easier than one might think. *ei* is always pronounced as in English wine, dine, mine. No exception to this rule. Wheras *ie* is a long eeee. Always – English rules don’t apply.
So when in *Wien* (*veen* – Austrian capital), one should taste the local Wein (as in vine). You’ll find the correct spelling in the headline of your link, i. e. GLÜHWEIN. I thought I’d mention it, because I often find English speakers confused over this. Hth. 😉 If you want to delete this, please do.

That first statue has to be one of the most intricate I’ve seen in my life. Thanks for sharing your image on Tuesdays of Texture!
